Class 1994 of the University of the Philippines College of Law is privileged to have the Hon. Antonio Tirol Carpio, Senior Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines and champion of the nation’s sovereignty, as our Guest of Honor at the U.P. Law Grand Alumni Homecoming on 7 November 2019 at the Marriott Hotel.
After a prominent career in private practice, Justice Carpio lent his brilliance in service of the Filipino people as Chief Presidential Legal Counsel of President Fidel V. Ramos, and later as one of the youngest appointees to the Supreme Court. A recipient of the Presidential Medal of Merit, he was also named as an Outstanding Alumnus in Public International Law and one of the Most Distinguished Alumni by our alma mater, the University of the Philippines.
Justice Carpio, who retires from the judiciary on October 26, 2019, best exemplifies this year’s homecoming theme, “Pahinungod”: an oblation to the nation, an offering to its people. We are honored to have him “come home,” as we, the U.P. Law alumni, reminisce and celebrate our days in Malcolm Hall - in the grand manner.
